About Us

Adopt-A-Highway

This program helps preserve Minnehaha County Highways, enhance the environment, and improve our counties natural beauty.

The Adopt-a-Highway Program is an excellent way for individuals or local groups to increase civic and community pride while keeping Minnehaha County beautiful.

How It Works

Volunteers agree to adopt a 2 mile section of County Highway for a minimum of three years.

Groups are asked to perform at least two cleanups per year—usually in spring and fall.

The County provides safety vests, trash bags, and pickup of filled bags after cleanup.

Recognition signs with your group’s name are installed along your adopted section.
